センター入試に向けて

暖かい秋も過ぎて、東北の寒さをひしひしと感じる今日この頃。

体調管理をしっかりとして、風邪をひかずに過ごして行きたい阿部です。

 

さて、センター入試まで3か月を切りました。

高校3年生には現在、センター模試問題を解いてもらい、どのような問題傾向、時間配分はどうすべきかという部分を一緒になって行っております。

 

英語に関しては第4問の長文と資料（グラフや広告、パンフレット）を見て答えていく内容が鬼門とされており、自分が担当している生徒もそこを苦手としている様子でした。

時間配分を考えても15分以内に解きたいここの箇所では、各段落のもっとも大事な1～2文を探し出す、設問で問われている事柄と解く際の注意するべき条件の整理、設問に対してグラフや広告のどの部分を確認するか、この3つができれば時間短縮が可能になるはずです。

こちらの抜粋した問題の一説で筆者がこの段落で伝えたいことを考えましょう。

 

  There is a lot of conflicting research in this area, but for us busy working people,  using food supplements seems like a great way to get nutrients that are missing or insufficient in our daily meals. They help us take in the required amounts of essential nutrients without any trouble, and nothing else provides such a handy, time-saving tool to achieve our goals. With tight schedules both at work and at home, it’s really hard for us to follow a strict nutrition plan and get all nutrients directly from food. Since no one eats a perfectly healthy diet all the time, it makes sense to consider dietary supplements as an option.

 

制限時間がなければ全部読みたいところではありますが、時間が限られているのでそうも言ってられません。

もちろん例外はあるのですが基本的に段落の構造は

 

『前の文や段落に関係した問題の提示や発展するための前振り→本論→その段落で筆者が伝えたいこと』

という流れが多いです。

 

なので早めに内容をつかみたい場合は、最初の提示部分と、最後の1～2文を読めばおおまかな内容はつかめます。

今回筆者がこの段落で伝えたかったのは最後の2文です。

少し昔から一般的に普及された栄養サプリメントについての議論についてで、この方は多忙な人にとって適切ではあるが大変な栄養管理をするよりかは選択肢の一つとして栄養サプリメントを服用しても良いのでは、という意見を論じております。そして要約した部分が筆者がこの段落で伝えたい部分でもあります。

 

接続詞やそれに近い用法の言葉の部分の把握も読解、要約をする際は非常に有利にことを運べますのでそういった知識なども付けられるようにしましょう。
